Samrat Gaj – We Need Your Support

Samrat Gaj is a male elephant born on January 9, 2013, at Sapana Village Lodge. He is the son of Srijana Kali and a wild male elephant named Ronaldo. He was named “Samrat,” meaning king, during a traditional Hindu naming ceremony.

At birth, Samrat weighed approximately 85 kg and stood about one meter tall. At just nine months old, he became critically ill due to the Herpes Virus. With urgent care and lifesaving medicine arranged by Mr. Dhruba Giri, Samrat survived this critical period.

Today, Samrat is a strong adult bull elephant. As he matures, he sometimes shows natural protective behavior, which requires careful and responsible management for the safety of both him and his caretakers.

To ensure his long-term wellbeing, we are building a private, chain-free and natural enclosure near the elephant viewing area of Sapana Village Lodge. This space will allow him to live safely, comfortably, and with dignity.

Your support will directly contribute to his food, medical care, habitat improvement, and safe management infrastructure.
