Who We Are

Sapana Village Lodge is home to five rescued elephants. Through our own initiative, we have created a chain-free and ethical shelter where elephants live with freedom, dignity, and lifelong care. We are committed to responsible elephant practices that place animal welfare above tourism exploitation.

These elephants were once used for tourist rides and suffered poor treatment. Dhruba Giri arranged their relocation to Sapana Village Lodge. Today, they live peacefully — without chains, without rides, and with respect.

Our Mission

The Elephant Sanctuary at Sapana Lodge provides a humane and ethical haven for rescued elephants. Guided by responsible tourism and animal welfare, we allow visitors to observe and connect with elephants in their natural environment without exploitation.

Our mission is to ensure proper food, balanced nutrition, lifelong care, dignity, respect, and continuous support for every elephant. We also focus on education about the challenges facing Asian elephants while promoting sustainable tourism practices that protect their wellbeing and freedom.

The lodge encompasses a vast grassland area with a flowing river, providing a picturesque setting to observe elephants enjoying baths, grazing, or playing in the mud—just as nature intended.
